چکیده

Metal and element concentrations (Li, Na, Mg, P, Ca, V, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Mo, Pd, Cd, Cs, Ba, Hg, Tl, Pb, U) were monitored in the tissues of sardine (Sardina pilchardus) anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) from six Greek coastal areas subjected to different natural anthropogenic forcings order be assessed as bioindicator species marine metal pollution. Essential fish habitats (EFH) of small pelagic fishes in the north of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, Iran

Small pelagic fishes particularly anchovy (Encrasicholina punctifer) and sardine (Sardinella sindensis) have an important role to support the Iranian fisheries and are distributed along the coastal waters of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. Using a logbook on small pelagic fisheries, a GIS-based environmental modeling approach was applied to investigate the presence and abundance of anchovy and s...

Modeling sardine and anchovy low-frequency variability.

The group of small pelagics (sardines, anchovies, herrings, etc.) is the largest source of wild marine protein worldwide, providing annually between 21% and 43% of the total marine capture production during at least the last 60 y (1). Even when large-scale fisheries have been operating for decades to centuries, their assessment and management remains difficult and highly uncertain (2). Such cha...

Helminthic Parasites as Heavy Metal Bioindicators in Aquatic Ecosystems

Abstract         Heavy metals have raised one of the most important problems in ecology and organisms life especially human being and animals. A variety of indicators including tissues of fish, birds and sediment have been used recently to measure the aquatic pollution with heavy metals. The aim of this study was to search the published articles in Iran a...

Trace metal control of phytochelatin production in coastal waters

Concentrations of particulate phytochelatin, a metal-binding peptide produced by eukaryotic phytoplankton, ranged from 2 to 50 pmol (g Chl a)-’ in samples collected from small harbors in southeastern New England. Although there was no obvious relationship between phytochelatin and total Cu concentrations, phytochelatin varied systematically with free Cu concentrations [Cu*+]. Transects in which...
